Flat Low Slope

Professional Flat and Low-Slope Roofs in Broward County

Since starting Earl W. Johnston Roofing, LLC in 1986, we’ve learned that no two roofs are exactly the same. Each presents their own unique challenges. In the case of commercial roofing in Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, and the surrounding areas, this is especially true. Yet fortunately for you and your office building, our experience has made us well aware of the problems particular to this style of roof. With our advice and assistance, you can easily avoid them.

Common Flat Roof Issues

Unlike issues with residential roofing in Hollywood Florida and North Miami, commercial roofing problems can easily go unnoticed. If left untreated, certain problems can result is extensive roofing damage, which could end up costing you thousands of dollars and potentially threaten the comfort of you and your employees. These include:

  • Ponding: Poor installation or inadequate drainage can lead to large pools of water collecting on your roof. If allowed to sit, this water can eat away at the asphalt atop the roof or the adhesive holding down your roofing membrane. In many instances, water damage related to poor drainage won’t be covered by your warranty.
  • Tenting: Over time, the membrane covering your roof can shrink towards the center, pulling away from vertical surfaces. This leaves seams exposed to the elements, which can often result in tears and leaks.
  • Flashings failures: As roofing membranes pull away, flashing is also left exposed. Your roof’s flashing is typically not designed to stand up to the contraction and expansion of the roof deck. If not corrected, exposed flashing can easily be blown off or fall.

Having us come out for routine maintenance can help correct these problems quickly and easily. As always, we’ll work to ensure that our presence doesn’t serve as a disruption to you and your employees. Think of us as your silent partners in your roof’s protection.
