3 Things Your Roofer Wishes You Knew About Your Roof

We understand that most homeowners are not roofing experts, which is why they hire roofers in the first place. But even if you are not that well-versed when it comes to residential roofing, there are still a couple of things that most roofing professionals wish you knew.

1. There’s No Substitute for Contractor Experience

While there is nothing wrong with hiring a fledgling company, when it comes to something as important as the roof over your head, you want somebody with years of hands-on experience under their belt. This experience also extends to the relationships they build with suppliers, customers as well as insurance companies and adjusters, which can come in handy when you are dealing with an insurance claim after a storm.

2. Materials Matter

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for and this is especially true when it comes to your roof. Unfortunately, low-quality roofing materials can sometimes be difficult to identify. This is where an experienced roofer comes in. They will be able to tell you which brands are known for high-performance, durability not to mention good looks.

3. Communication Is Key

You’d be surprised at how many problems arise due to poor communication. For this reason, it is critical that you keep an open line of communication with your roofer before, during and after your project to avoid any misunderstandings. Also, a good roofer will always be happy to answer your questions, no matter how small, so don’t be afraid to ask.
